How To Arrange Tables

First, make sure you have enough tables. Inexpensive folding tables are a good investment for your sale and for future sales. Also, you can borrow tables from your church, neighbors, relatives, or civic organization.

TIP: Create makeshift tables out of old doors, pieces of plywood, window shutters or any other flat surface which can be set on wooden horses, boxes, or barrels. Colorful fabric or cheerful plastic tablecloths are a nice touch.

Okay, now that we have them, where do we place them? The answer may surprise you. Place tables outside your garage as well as inside! Tables on your lawn and along your driveway can enhance your sale by attracting people driving by.

Another benefit to placing tables outside is that people will have room to view your offerings. More lookers = more buyers!

TIP: Place your tables in an arrangement that will encourage traffic flow right up to the garage opening.

TIP: Food chains entice people to walk through the entire store by placing "staples" in the back. You can entice people to the back of "your store" too by having something special there. A sign can announce it: Great books in garage."

TIP: Consider how your sale looks to a person passing by in a car. Many people map out all the sales on a Saturday and only stop at the ones that look good. Make your sale look good from the road. Place some interesting items in plain view to act as your magnet.

Free Table

Why not have a "help yourself" table where everything on it is free! What a great way to get rid of mismatched items that have been ignored on your other tables. Some of these items may be slightly damaged and the Free Table will save you a trip to the recycling center! Master seller Ken Envoy at
