How To Sell Clothes

First of all, only sell clothes that are clean and in excellent condition. Anything other than that would be a sales killer. Organize all clothes into groups by size, sex, and age. This allows people to quickly find what they are looking for, resulting in more sales.

TIP: Use safety pins to keep paired items together.

TIP: Provide a full-length mirror.

TIP: You can create a makeshift changing room by draping blankets in one corner of your garage.

TIP: Use string tags hanging items with pertinent information on them. People buy so much more when they can quickly see these details.

TIP: Never sell stained or torn clothing. You don’t want to look like Dirt- Bag-R-Us! Sell only clean and wrinkle free clothes.

TIP: Never let your clothes become a disorganized heap on the table.

Constantly re-fold and organize them.

TIP: Inexpensive clothes racks found in any department store will help you sell more clothing.

Preparation of Sales Area

The term "Garage Sale" is generic for all those homeowner’s sales whether they have a garage or not! The name generally applies to yard sales, tent sales, tag sales, porch sales and any other creative name used for a sale.

Wherever you have your sale, it should be orderly and clean. This means that lawns need to be mowed, garages need to be swept and hosed down. Does this sound like common sense? As you attend other garage sales you will find more than a few where this advice is ignored. Also, you will find fewer customers in such places.

TIP: Any items in your sales area that are not for sale should be covered with blankets or sheets or identified with a sign saying "Not For Sale!” People get annoyed when they try to buy things only to find out that they aren’t available.

TIP: You should have an electric cord plugged into an outlet so people can test electronic items.

TIP: Lock your man-eating pit bull in the cellar!
