How To Organize Your Sale
First imagine yourself in
a car that is passing by your sale. Consider how items and
tables could be arranged to get your attention. With a little
imagination you can have people slamming on their
brakes.
People have been known to use huge inflatables,
antique cars, and even horse drawn carriages to help get
the attention of potential buyers. If you have something
unusual that you can use to draw customers, why not use
it.
Consider placing golf clubs, power tools, and sports
equipment right at the end of your driveway. Male drivers
in particular, are tempted to stop when they see these
things. Maybe you
can hire a stripper to… just kidding!
TIP: A few signs that might bring in traffic could be:
"Great Sports Stuff," "Collectibles," "Some
Antiques"
Similar Stuff Together
Organizing your sale means putting similar items in the same
place. Clothes should be in one area, tools another, and
knick-knacks in another. A good garage sale need not be
a scavenger hunt. People wish to find items that
interest them quickly.
Take advantage of tables, shelves, hanging racks and boxes.
Items which are unbreakable work well in boxes; especially if
they are all the same price.
Do expect people to pick up and examine anything they see at
your sale. Children will do this too, so place important
breakable things in as safe a place as
possible.
Make sure your sale is child proof, but
don’t come across as a child hater. That’s the kiss of
death!
Have considered buying items
at wholsale for re-sale at flea markets as well as your
garage sale?
TIP: Consider a play area where small children can amuse
themselves while their parents browse your
sale.
TIP: A can of WD40 works great for cleaning off tools,
lawnmowers, and power equipment.
