"Become a Garage Sale Pricing Genius!"
Garage Sale and Yard Sale Strategies That Work!

One of the most difficult decisions in hosting your garage sale is deciding about garage sale pricing. You wish to make a profit, but you don't want to scare customers away by asking too much. So how do you decide a fair price? Here are some garage sale pricing tips from How to Turn Your Garage Sale Into a Money Machine.

Bargains Rule (Sort of a Pun!)

Remember that people go to garage sales to find bargains. Put yourself in your customer's shoes and consider if your yard sale pricing is a bargain or not. You must offer bargains! So what is a bargain? A bargain is a price that is substantially less than the item's real value. Much advice is available about the psychology of selling and using the amazing formula.

New and Un-used Items

Many people discount new items 25 to 35 percent at the start of a garage sale. This is a fair way to start. That means if you paid 100.00 dollars for it, you start out with a price of $75.00 or $65.00. You can be flexible on this, but be prepared to make adjustments in your price as the sale progresses. The bottom line is to sell the item, right? If you get no interest, simply drop the price, especially if you start out near the "what's it worth" price. Yard sale pricing is not an exact science and sometimes you will use your intuition to arrive at the right price. Remain flexible for garage sale pricing success.

How Much Is It Worth Syndrome

An item is only worth what someone is willing to pay you for that item. Forget what the item is selling for in the store. The reality of a garage sale is that no one wants to pay you what something is worth. They want to pay you as little as possible! If you are obsessed with getting the true value of what something is worth, maybe you shouldn't be having a garage sale in the first place. No one wants to pay what it is worth! If you have a really neat item, maybe you should try another option such as Ebay. If you have never done Ebay,no problem, here is how you can become an Ebay Auction Commando

Antiques

People are always looking for antiques and other valuble collectibles at garage sales. They hope that you under-estimate the value of these items and price them at a bargain.

If you know something is an antique or a highly sought after collectible, you can charge a good price and still make it a bargain for the buyer. You are not selling this item as an antique shop, and you shouldn't expect to receive antique shop prices! If you price like an antique store or any store, you will chase buyers away. Deals and bargains. That's what garage sale pricing is all about. You can become your own success story in garage sales and end up as a chapter in, you guessed it, How to achieve Success Stories

Yard Sale Pricing I Have Seen

One garage sale tip and yard sale tip is to visit other sales to see how they are pricing thier items.

Dollar Tables

These items were all priced for one dollar!

- wine glasses - kitchen utensils - small pots - creamers - sugar bowles - plates - cups and saucers - baking tins - yoyo - children's books - small frames - balls - salt and pepper shakers - children's coloring books - ice fishing tip ups - collecting cards - playing cards - knives - candle stick - candles - fishing lures - jewelry odds and ends - board games - ladles and serving spoons - sterling plate serving dishes

Rationale

The above items were a great bargain. Some of these items started out at a higher price but were not selling,so they were moved to the dollar table. The siver plated serving dishes were really beautiful but in need of polishing. According to this garage sale host, not many people were interested in siver plate at any price. There is one thing that can get as much attention as a dollar table and that is the FREE TABLE. Learn to turn the word free into gold.

A Selling Guru

Some of my garage sale ideas actually came from a guy famous for his internet best seller called "Car Secrets." Garage Sale Pricing and Yard Sale Pricing are similar to the pricing in a car lot. The right prices will get customers to look, stop, and buy. There is one man well known for success at selling. He is called the copy expert
